Winners of the IX All-Russian Prize "For Fidelity to Science" to Be Announced on October 26

The names of the laureates and diploma holders of the 9th All-Russian Award “For Fidelity to Science” will be announced on October 26 during a grand ceremony at Zarya dye Park. This was revealed during a meeting of the prize's organizing committee, chaired by the head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Valery Falkov.
The Minister noted that the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2022, marks a significant step forward in promoting scientific knowledge. This initiative followed the Year of Science and Technology, which highlighted the high demand for scientific knowledge among various segments of the population.
“The Prize has become a pivotal event within the Decade of Science and Technology. It is not only a recognition of the best projects for advancing science. The popularity of certain categories reflects social interests and needs, what people find important. This year, we once again set a record for the number of applications received - 1,213 from 78 regions of Russia. This demonstrates the growing popularity of the award,” said Valery Falkov.
In 2022, the prize received 1,000 applications, while in 2021, the number exceeded 700.
The award’s laureates will attend the 3rd Congress of Young Scientists, one of the key events of the Decade of Science and Technology, which will take place on November 28-30.
Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, emphasized the special importance of popularizing science and spreading scientific knowledge. Thanks to the award, many domestic scientific achievements got widespread recognition, helping to engage young people in the field.
Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Viktor Sadovnichy, in light of the upcoming 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2024 and the 270th anniversary of Moscow State University in 2025, suggested dedicating one of next year's award categories to the achievements of fundamental science.
The “Popular Science Project of the Year” category received the most applications - 208. In second place was the “Mentor” category, established in the Year of the Educator and Mentor at the initiative of the Russian Academy of Education, with 178 applications. Other notable categories include “Best Popular Science Student Project” (116 applications), “Science is Trendy” (109), and "Defense of Historical Truth" (108).
The applications will be evaluated by a team of scientists, journalists covering the field, and representatives from government bodies, private foundations, and university press services. The Organizing Committee will decide the final laureates and diploma holders.
The special awards of “For Fidelity to Science” are established by state corporations Roscosmos, Rostec, and Rosatom. Winners will receive monetary prizes and special awards from the contest's partners, which include a trip on a nuclear icebreaker, a visit to one of Russia's spaceports, and an exclusive tour of the Irkut Corporation Engineering Center in Moscow.

Participants can be journalists who cover the topic of Russian science, science popularizers, scientists, and business representatives who have made significant contributions to supporting the prestige of professional scientific activity and the promotion of domestic scientific achievements.
The award is organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, and its partners include the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Kurchatov Institute, and Lomonosov Moscow State University. For over five years, the award has been supported by the Arts, Science, and Sport Charitable Foundation.
